GTX pushes out higher frames (performance) over the GTS, no diference otherwise

Awww man.... there goes my only reason to save a few $$$...

GTX it is then :-D

Thanks peoples...

No... but i didn't wanna go and spend extra money on the GTX if it's not going to work well with an LCD...

the reason you will have heard that the gts is better for LCD'S is due to the native resolution
i.e most LCD'S run at max 1280x1024

if this is the case there will be no need for the extra performance of the gtx which is designed to run at extremely high resolutions

i.e both will run extremely well at the LCD'S resolution and the extra cost would be pointless

Well then i'll just wait to see what the price difference between them is and take it from there....

They haven't come out here in SA yet so still waiting...

Finally we have the cards... and as per usual... you're going to have to auction off grandma to get them...

Recommended price for the 8800GTS is $449 (R3249), but the stores have it for $740 (R5299)

Recommended price for the 8800GTX is $599 (R4334), but the stores have it for $977 (R6999)

And this is from the cheapest retailer...

I love SA... NOT!

I feel your pain, in Australia an ASUS 8800GTS is $800 and the GTX is $1200!
Luckily I have family in the US and can buy from there, Australian retailers need to wake up to themsleves, it'd ridiculous.

Hi there,

from sunny SA myself. JHB.

Where did you get these prices from?

Might be able to help you as the cards are available from my suppliers...

Still bloody expensive though........

I got them from www.computersonly.co.za

My main board blew beginning of the month and i have decided to go the whole hog and upgrade to C2D machine and add an 8800gts... but it's going to be a while before i have the required R15 000... so no need to rush...

The same prices in the UK as well - a 880GTX is around £490!
