This is doing my head in. Which is the fastest in raw power for current and new games? I can afford to choose 1 but can't go PCIE.

The x1950pro is the faster of the two cards.Although the 7800gt in PCI-E is a great performer,as an AGP card it is not as good as they disabled some pixel pipes and underclocked it as well as using a cheaper memory. So ya go with the 1950pro.Goodluck.

Thanks for the reply, although this is the 7800GS+ which is the 7900GT core. Does this make a difference?

They don't make a 7800GT in AGP, and it would be easier for you to put your system specs in your signature, then to type them out with every post you make.

x1950Pro, obviously

You are right kkkk1. The gainward 78000gs+ is a 7900GT is disguise. Still the 1950 pro will be better not to mention cheaper I think.

Reply to Nameless7

X1950Pro as it should be as fast or faster and quite a bit cheaper.

The 7800 GS+ is a 7900 GT. This means it has the ability to become a 7900 GTX, but its not as easy as the X1950 Pro, wich can become an X1900XT with a overclock on air.
The X1950 Pro is the obvious choice also because it costs only 200$.

If u can find the 7800 GS+ for 150$, get it.

Yes it does as you may very well be able to unlock those extra pipes and oc it like crazy.Goodluck.

The Gainward 7800GS+ is a 7900GT in disguise but with slightly lower memory clock speeds. Gainwards spec sheet say 450/1250 clock speeds.

Check this out stupid, the X1900XT has a different chip and more shaders than an X1950 Pro. They can never be the same card.

No bios or hack will make these two cards the same....now go freaking die somewhere.

What the hell is your problem? That is totally untrue. The X1950 PRO and X1900 XT have completely different GPUs.

Is there a reason you type the first thing that comes off of your fingers without knowing what you are talking about?

Jesus, Track. What is your malfunction, anyway? You do this almost constantly.

Thanks for all the advise, it looks like i'll be hunting for an X1950pro.
