Im thinking about getting a 22" LCD for my computer, but right now all I have is a 9550, and I do alot of gaming. But, to take advantage of my new moniter, I think i will need a new video card to play games in the higher res. Im planning a major +2k rebuild after vidta comes out, and want a decent AGP card until then. What would be your choice for a ~$100 AGP card?

Buying a nice big monitor and mating it with an rubbish video card doesnt make any sense at all. I started to check newegg's prices, but simply decided that the whole thing was stupid.

Under $100: An X700

For about $130 I think you can get a nice X850 PRO.

Your best bet might be used, you might score an X800 XL under $100 nowadays. Not sure though, haven't checked ebay for one in a while...

[edit] Checked... X800 XL's can be got on ebay for under $100. Best cheapo AGP deal out there, IMHO. [/edit]

Hey Cleeve, I checked Ebay and they may be currently under $100 but the auction isn't even close to being over with.

X800XL at Ebay

goorioles747: Go over here to chiefvalue. After shipping the X850Pro is for $135. It'd be well worth going over your budget by 35 bucks.

At stock, about the same, but slightly better. The X850pro is a good overclocker though. With some you can unlock the extra 4 pipes, and with a good overclock, you can reach X850XT performance.

What do you think about a x850 PRO vs a x1600 PRO. The PRO is 50 bucks cheaper, and for other reasons it would be muuuch more convenient for me to get the x1600. Do you think that the x850 pro is that much better?
