Hi everyone. Was hoping someone might be able to answer a question for me regarding the SLI settings on my mobo.

I have an MSI K8N nForce4 SLI Platinum that has a SLI/Non-SLI card between the PCI-E slots. I recently upgraded to dual BFG 7800GT OC's (had one since last January) and noticed that during bootup, my PCI-E is at 8x. It used to be 16x. Is it normal now that it's in SLI? Instead of 1 running at 16x, you have a total of 16x between 2? Or is something not quite right?

And yes, I've turned the card around so it's set for SLI as opposed to Non-SLI.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time!

It is normal, I they made a nF4 chipset with 2X 16 lanes but there is no performance difference.

These are 16X PCIe slot that fall back to 8X electrical connection when two card are selected.

The chipset that allowed for 2 full 16X use 2 chips connected thru HT...
