Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my 17" CRT to 19" Widescreen LCD.
l was looking through the information on my video card ( EVGA GeForce FX 5500 256MB ) and could not find anything about the resolution 1440x900 being supported. That is the 16:10 aspect ratio, however, in my control panel settings and in the online pdf manual for the video card it says it supports resolutions of ratio 16:9.
Am I out of luck if I don't want to upgrade to the 16:9 resolution LCDs? Or is this something that updated drivers will take care of? Thanks a million.
Links to monitor i'm looking at and the manual, in that order.

I doubt that it wont support a resolution of 1440x900, but it really dosent matter much because u cant play any games at 1440x900 on an FX 5500 anyway.

If u have the money to buy a whole new monitor, only to gain 2 inches, then u have enough money to upgrade ur graphics card.

The graphics card is the MOST important thing in ur PC for gaming. Stick with this monitor and buy a new card. The fastest card on earth costs less than 300$.

Ok, so it's a yes from you that I will likely be able to run at 1440x900 with my current video card.
Gaming is of little importance, I am gaming minimally these days. My current CRT is becoming fuzzy to look at after 6 years..my good old Samsung753DF...An upgrade to my mobo is in line way ahead of the video card, but money is slim, otherwise I would love to go to the 20+ inch LCDs.

This resolution is a driver issue, not a hardware issue.

It's actually a hardware issue being reinforced by software.

....and by the way, quit posting here.

Kthx.

Yeah I hate when people make it to addict by asking 400 clueless questions and then give advices that might look valuable to the newer member..

I would think that card would support it, I suggest an email/call to eVga customer support to make sure!

The guy has simply been a clueless dick since he got here, which is expected, but he argues with people here who know what they're talking about, like he's a Pro or something

It simply wont be tolerated.
