Having built up a couple of mg worth of documents on the Axim X50v I decided
to move the docs to the build in storage on the device but trying to get
them to sync seems impossible as the ActivSync software cannot detect the
storage on the Axim. Is this the case of am I being an idiot ?

No the idiots came way before you AS only functions with the built in
RAM. Things like Built-in-Storage didn't even exist when the concept was
concieved. Syncing to removable drives such as flash media was likely
considered to frought with issues to support. In any case, it doesn't do
that. There are a couple of third party apps that can help Mightysync is
one, and I'm sure someone will point out the free one, which I don't recall.
Now the question. Why do you need to 'sync' all these documents? That is a
process designed to keep the latest copy available on both machines. Do all
these files change so often that it is neccessary to have the OS recognize
the latest one and copy it over the older one on a daily basis, or a
continuous basis? Aren't you like most folks that have a good number of
fairly static documents that you want with you, that lend themselves well to
being on a flash card or in ROM, because they don't change much? These
could be manually updated when they change. I do the company phone list,
that the secretary sends out once a month that way. There are those
documents that do change often. A spreadsheet keeping track of business
mileage for instance.
Could you look at the documents in question and see if there are those that
don't really need to be sync'd and those that do, and locate them
accordingly?
