So what you're saying is that running an O\C of 3GHz on stock is a good idea? 70 degree + is an acceptable temp to run the cpu at? I used the stock cooler in an open case on my E6300 @ 3.15GHz. Ran Orthos for all of 2 minutes before stopping it due to high temps, 74 degrees., and that was with AS5. I can only imagine how high it would have gone if I had left it running.I can O\C my 6300 to 3.15 on stock cooling, but to what end? Can't close the case, it becomes a furnace, even with 2\120mm fans. It wasn't hard to figure out that stock cooling doesn't cut it. And the fact that a cool CPU will run with less stress, and your system will run cooler, is enough for any overclocker to dump that stock piece of garbage and put in a better solution. I replaced my cooler with a Thermalwright P90 from a previous build (A64 3800X2) and I max out @ 58, Full load Orthos@ 3220MHz.My case stays closed and cool.
I'll end this post with, YES, you can O\C with a stock cooler. I won't.
