Ok, I have been out of the computer game for awhile now. I gave up video games and stuff while I for a good year. Ok, so I want to build a new system. I have a great monitor, keyboard, case, mouse and a couple sata western digital raptors. Can anyone reccomend a good motherboard/processor/RAM/video card/power supply combo? Something that you know from experience works well together. I dont need the FASTEST of everything, even one generation behind this one would be fine. I play on-line poker, do a lot of multi-tasking and would like to get back involved playing games like the new BF2142. I don't want it to be to cheap, but cheap is always nice :) THANKS!!!

we need a sticky thats reminds people to post there budget, one of the most important parts of a system build help post here.

since i dont know how much to plan to spend right now this is only a basic outline, but, um, yeah.

core 2 dou's are where its at right now, getting anything less would be foolish. get the E6600 instead if budget permits, it $308.
E6300 - $180

good board for the money, it got editors choice in a recent article by toms.
MSI P965 Platinum Socket T - $134

It's ram, its cheap, what more can i say?
G. Skill 2GB, DDR2 800

only linked zipzoomfly here because they took it off newegg for some reason, and i like the fact its blue, any 1950pro will do though. its a great card for the money.
Sapphire 1950pro

I like Antec psu's and this config isnt really a monster system, so this will do fine.
Antec TruePower-ll 480w - $80

You are better off spending another 30 bucks and getting the 7900GTX at zipzoomfly after MIR.

This is my pecking order:

~$100 - 7600GT
~$200 - X1950Pro
~$300 - 7900GTX
~$460 - 8800GTS
~$650 - 8800GTX

I don't bother putting the X1950XTX for $400 because if you are spending this amount of money for a video card, what the heck is another 60 bucks for something better and DX10 compatible.
