I would be interested to build an amplifier, stereo around 40w/channel... It would most likelly be based on microchip like lm3876, lm3886, tda1514, tda1794... Does anyone have experiences, recomendations etc. about these chips?

A while back I built an amp with the 3886 chip (National Semiconductor) to power a car audio sub in my room. I basically used the info I found from here:

http://www.dpaton.net/audio/3886amp/3886amp.shtml
and here:

They're relatively easy to make and the end result is a nice/cheap, but clean sounding amp. I found most of the parts at Orvac Electronics in Fullerton, CA ... orvac.com. I don't have any experience with the other chips you mentioned.

They have the best amps that u can get. At least in my opinion. They don't have kits anymore. But they are still awesome. Alot better than denon and brands like that. Harman/kardon also makes really good amps.
