hey all i have a sweet mitsubishi 21 inch superbright diamondtron that rocks that also has two grapchics conections and button on front to switch displays

i am now in the process of making a new W/C system with 6700 conroe sli 8800gtx etc etc blah blah for gaming and i am going to turn my current sytem over to kids

hers what i ant to do have them both running off same mouse and keyboad and of course have displays showing on my monitor.

so it would go like this i game and only game on my rig then i turn it off and power up our house rig(my old gaming rig) switch mouse and keyboard and hit button on monitor to switch displays and then i check mail do artwork etc on old system

what i need is info on the switch thing or can i not do this.

Yep a KVM switch is what you want. I have read somewhere that some KVMs don't work too well if you use USB mouse/keyboards and don't have both machines turned on. However, if you are using PS2 connectors then you can pick them up for cheaper than £15 GBP.

I have some experience with these, and use a 21" NEC CRT for my xbox 360 and second monitor. I have gone through several of these, and my advice to you, is make sure you buy brand new, and also a decent make, dont think you can skimp by buying a cheapo one, they work, but are often fuzzy which is no good at all. I have a Belkin one now, and its top notch!

ended up getting d link one i dont think i will have fuzzy issue as i will only use it for the mouse and keyboard my mitisbushi has two grachics connections and a button on front to switch displays.
