Need some final thoughts on these systems and where i might improve:

Raptor 150GB Serial ATA 10,000RPM Hard Drive w/16MB
Mitsumi FA404A/FA404M-Black 7-in-1 USB 2.0 Media Drive
Coolermaster CM Stacker 830 Aluminum Full
Pioneer DVR-710 16X Dual Layer DVD±RW Drive
Samsung 960BF SyncMaster 19in Analog/Digital LCD Monitor
Supermicro X7DAE Intel 5000X Dual Xeon DDR2 E-ATX Server Board
OCZ OCZ700GXSSLI GameXStream 700W Power Supply
PNY Quadro FX 1500
Intel® Xeon Processor 3060 2.4GHz 1066MHz LGA775Intel Dual-Core Xeon
2G Samsung FB memory 667mhz
Edius NX capture card w/HD option-Canopus
1 ATA/133 Controler card/going to install 3 DVD drives all master

So this system will used for Video editing/Authoring & WMV/REAL/QT/DIVX encoding using Squeez or Pro coder-2.Lots of rendering using Boris RED/Blue,after effects.

1.Will-Intel Dual-Core Xeon TM Processor 5060 3.2GHz 1066MHz, be better?
2.Never had issues with Antec before thinking about going with the 650W Trio PSU,but seeing so many good things with OCZ Xstream, not sure?
3. Love that Stacker case any other options??
4.Memory, from what i remember back in the day samsung made most of the memory chips for other venders(Still so)?,should i stick with a pure samsung?
5.Does this mobo do on board RAID-0 i dont see it,if not the best C.C. i can get
6.DVD,i need to rip & encode 400 DVD(non-protected)what drive offers the fastest ripping speeds, im sure my plan will work with a ATA/133 C.C on a PCI slot, 2 drives set to master not shared,1 onboard also,so i can rip 3 at once, anyone see a issue with this?
7.Drives-Raptor as system, what drives(fastest) should i go with for my Raid?
8.Quietness,should i replace the Xeon`s HS with aftermarket to keep noise low/better cooling?

Wait these`s more: System 2

Raptor 150GB 10,000RPM
Western Digital My Book Premium Edition 500GB 7200RPM Dual Interface
Pioneer DVR-111D 16X Dual Layer DVD±RW Drive
Asus P5B Deluxe P965 Core 2 Extreme/Core 2 Duo/Pentium Extreme/Pentium D/P4/Celeron D 1066FSB LGA775 DDR2 ATX Motherboard
Antec TruePower TRIO 650 650W Power Supply
EVGA GeForce 7950GT KO Superclocked (600MHz) 512MB GDDR3 PCIE
Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS Full Tower Case w/Side Panel
Intel® Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe Processor 2.4GHz, 1066FSB, LGA775,
Corsair TWIN2X2048-5400C4 2GB DDR2-675 XMS2-5400 Xtreme
ATA/133 C.C

Pretty much the same use, also might try to slip a game or two in there!!

1:D VD-drive`s same question but on this system will the DC2 be able to handle ripping the 3 Movies at once?
2:External H.D is there a better one then the W.D?
3:Internal fastest H.D for my Raid-0?
4:There goes my Antec ,should i?
5:Case- looking to save somewhere, also like the shark by thermaltake!
6:Video card-I have to call Boris tommorw and find out what BLUE uses to on the Video card to Preview its projects, now RED ran fastest on Video cards with the most"Texture memory" which i think means the most memory, not sure if i need to go this high I already have the quadro on my other system..Whats your guys input on that?

To tell you the truth the only reason im going with the Xeon is because the Edius NX uses the PCI-x slot to do H.D editing otherwise i would be building two CD2,i saw somewhere the CD2 EE was just as fast as a Xeon 5160 (which is way out of my budget),now i would go with the EE if i could find a MOBO with a PCI-x to use with the CD2 EE,can you guys help school me on these issues with the CD2 EE vs 5160!

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this and any info would be wonderful,as you can see im spending some nice cash here and want to get it right,i`ve been away from building computers since the 875 was new and lost some of my touch along the way..

Peace

that might help if you want your computer to work, yes. the 3xxx line of xeons are just rebranded c2d's, so they use the 775 socket, while that board uses the 771 socket, those two parts are completly incompatable.

im pretty sure that you need two cpu's to run a dual socket board, you cant just add another later, not sure about that though.

ditch any thought of getting a xeon other then the new woodcrests, there based on the same micro arc as the c2d's there much, much, much better cpu's. they run cooler, faster, and are all around better cpu's. even one of the more "low end" woodcrests would win out against something like a 5060. there more expensive then there older, slower, and hotter counter parts though.

after you correct that stuff we can move on with the other things.

one more thing, might i make a suggestion? the system you speced out is basiclly a mac pro, those are great for what your doing, might consider getting one of those instead.

What kind of performance hit would you get using the Edius NX in just a PCI slot? PCI-X is generally backward compatible with PCI, meaning that you can, for example, install a PCI-X card in a standard PCI slot (but it will be limited to the standard PCI bus speed).

I put the wrong verison up the X7DVA-0 is socket 775,but thanks for pointing out that the 5060,3060 suck!!Spoke with my canopus guy and told me the samething..

So im going with 2 5130 maybe 5140

Being that the 5130 has a 1333mhz FSB do i need to go up to DDR2-PC800 or will the 5400 667mhz still be able to max out my FSB?Forgot to ask

As to answer your question about the Mac thing, well its been a while since i upgraded my editing systems and although Mac`s have this reputation for being high and mighty in the video world, which in fact there very good but for me to edit weddings, small shows & DVd encoding, i would have to learn Final Cut,i have used it and NOT IMPRESSED at all, almost ALL filter,slow-motion & effects would have to be rendered,in my canopus everything is in realtime expect boris red plug in & hollywood FX,perhaps things have changed with macs using intel chips now and stuff im very happy canopus edius style!!
Also i hate anything apple i wont even get a ipod.

Well with my specs i would be ok in DV but once i go HD there would be a big big hit,i never seen (expect pics)a pci-x slot.
if i put the edius card in a PCI express slot half of the edius card would be connected to nothing which is the HD part...

As far as all that stuff i wrote before i guess the only things i really need some advice on are.

PSU-Is the Xstream a better PSU the the TRIO Antec?
Would my 3 DVD drives ripping at the same time work?
Which DVD has the fastest extracting video speed
Xeon HS, should i got aftermarket to keep noise-better cooling

Over 150 views and all i got is 2 peoples feedback,i know i wrote a long arss post but come on guys i dont expect you to touch on each question just a little quote here and there would be nice..

Happy thanksgiving guys..

Naw, you can add a 2nd CPU anytime you want to. I am running a Dell server now with only 1 CPU and the 2nd CPU socket is empty. Xeon Socket 771 Server.
