Just wondering what PSU's are the best when it comes to less noise production. I'm aiming on getting the P180 case which allready is very silent. To get the job done I would like to install a (none fanless) quiet PSU around 500W. Any suggestions? Thx.

IMO PC Power and Cooling Silencer series. They have a 470 and a 610. Their PSU's are always measured at continuous output vs peak so their 470 is REALLY 470. The designs are such that the fans are significantly below ambient so that you will not be able to notice them over any mb, case or gpu fans. I have no experience with any of the fanless PSU's out there. Hopefully some of our intrepid brethern can address that area.

Check out this site - they have all sorts of quiet stuff, and give you decibel ratings and all sorts of details. I've only used them from the UK, but this link is for the dutch site:

That sounds really nice but I like to know how much Decibel they produce. Sometimes I read reviews of PSU's that supposed to be silent and then you go to newegg and you read something different. I'll try to look up some reviews on those PSU's you are mentioning though. thx

Thx, but it is not providing a lot of PSU's. Antec itself (developer of the P180 case) also creates it's own PSU's. No offence but none of the Antec PSU's can be found on that site. Thx anyways :)

Good articles. Good forums. Not sure if theres a whole lot about PSUs but I think it's worth looking through if you want to quiet your PC.

From personal experience I can definitely say that Seasonic S12 series is very, very quiet. The Antec NeoHE series is also very quiet, but their track record for reliablity seems to be a little spotty lately.

Zalman is always pretty good with cooling & you don't find many PS with a heatpipe in them. This cuts down on the rotation speed needed to keep it cool plus the large 120mm fan is nice.

Antec Phantom 500, Corsair CMPSU-620HX, Seasonic S-12 SS-500HT and Zalman ZM460B-APS. These four models all boast excellent operating parameters and are also very quiet (I’d even say silent if the Corsair model was not on the list).

if you want to go "modular" go for the corsair.

got this from a review by x-bit labs

I can tell you that Seasonic makes some of the quietest PSUs. They use Yate Loon fans with very well designed fan controllers that are barely audible (compared to regular PSUs) even at full speed.

If you want a COMPLETELY silent PSU, consider some fanless PSUs, those can be found on the sites linked in this thread. Unless you're building a low-power PC though, I would recommend against a fanless PSU.
