So far, there are about 6 or 7 species interested in our planet, but why? What is it they can gain from it. Is it just a matter of spreading out their species like the colonies in Star trek? Or does it have to do with something on a far more subtle level...
Pike, should we as humans find another planet with living beings on it.. what do you think we would be interested in about them?

Pike, why must you think like that? What makes you think they have a need to gain from us? Couldn't they be just like me and wish for nothing more than to share wisdom? With people like you roaming about it's hardly surprising they haven't made contact.
you see, before your scenario may come to be, something has to come first as it will be a very long time before we are capable of blasting out towards new solar systems...so, your question does not apply at the present time...later maybe
Why are you putting a negative spin on that when it has none? What was meant by : "....Or does it have to do with something on a far more subtle level... " , was that there is the possibility of a "spiritual" level.
Pike, what makes you think that if they're capable of coming here, they have anything to learn from us except to watch us acting like cavemen?
Second, everyone wants to nail the first alien. Have you not seen Species or Total Recall? C'mon.

We see things and understand things from our own perspective. It cannot be otherwise, unless we are capable of changing that very perspective. Changing ones' paradigm.
This is where things become more subtle and generally quite difficult because we aren't accustomed to functionning other than in our normal paradigm. So just for the sake of possibilities, just for the sake of a positive twist to that which generally isn't regarded as having one, let's say this:
On the material level, Aliens appear to be the angels, gods and goddesses, demons devils and leprechauns written about all throught history. They have always been there. Major goverments know they are there.
On the spiritual level, Aliens are the angels, gods and goddesses, demons devils and leprechauns written about all throught history. They have always been here. Major goverments know they are here.
The great difficulty, is the general unawareness of the connectedness of the two levels of reality and becomming aware of the aliens in one level and beleiving they are in the other.
