Address bar in folders; restore accessibility features to ..

A while back I was messing with the accessibility features w/ xp. I'm
not sure exactly what I did, but it messed a few things up. First,
when you're in a folder, I can't see the location of where I'm at (i.e.
c:\program files). I go to the view option, and already have the
address bar checked... however I'm not sure if it refers to what I'm
talking about. Either way, how can I have it show this?

The other thing is the bar on top each window has shrunk -- everything
is like half the size it used to be. I've gone in and tried to restore
the defaults, but it doesn't seem to fix it. Don't know if this helps,
but one time I did make the bar on top bigger, but then my taskbar was
like blown up by 50%. In other words, it was either a small window
bar, or normal size bar and a huge task bar -- I couldn't have my cake
and eat it too.

I've also gone to sites that have registery tweaks
(kellys-korner-xp.com) and ran a "set accessibiliy to default" reg
file, but that didn't do anything either

Please help!

In Windows Explorer, Tools -> Folder Options -> View, enabled the
"Display the full path in the <loc> bar", where <loc> is "address" or
"title" depending on where you want the full path to be displayed (you
can show the full path in both).

Sounds like you chose to use small icons. Right-click on the toolbar,
Customize, and pick large icons.

If instead you are asking about the titlebar, open the Display applet in
Control Panel, Appearance tab, Advanced, click on the "Active Title" in
the example display, and pick your font and size.

I have them both checked, but the full path is only displayed in the
titlebar. I just remember that last time I messed with those
accessibility settings, it seemed to mess everything up.

When I did that, an interesting thing happened -- it not only increased
the size of my title bar, but also my task bar. So, if I want to have
a normal-sized titlebar, my taskbar looks bloated.
What's going on??

Sounds like something got out of sync for a visual attribute that you
normally don't get to modify through the UI, so try the following:

- Open the System applet (in Control Panel or right-click on the desktop
and pick Properties).
- Under the Appearance tab, select a different desktop style.
- Click Apply to use that style.
- Check the taskbar and window titlebars for sizes.
- Switch back to your old desktop style, apply, and check sizes again.

You really don't get much for what you can customize using the
Appearance tab in the System applet. PC Mag's DisplaySet lets you
configure more visual attributes
(http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,31114,00.asp). While the utility
is free, their download site is not. There are probably other utilities
that let you configure more of the attributes of desktop objects.
