hi guys, budget is £1000. for that money I can get either a core 2 duo e6700 and an 8800gts card or a core 2 e6600 and a gtx. (I need to throw a new power supply and mother board and ram in there too)

my monitors native is 1440 x 900 and I pretty much spend my whole life playing world of warcraft. what system do you guys think I should get?

thanks in advance

The 6600 and GTX, definately !

You can overclock the 6600 to 6700 levels EASY even without changing a single volt on your motherboard.

GTX however has extra transistors... it will give you more headroom into the future.

O.o a 8800gtx for playing WOW thats eh a little over-rated.. but then again ur future proof if your gonna start playing AOC -> www.ageofconan.com which should support dx10

The 8800GTX + E6600, although that's still WAY more than World of Warcraft needs. Heck, a 7800GT can play WoW flawlessly at that resolution on max settings.

Of your two alternatives, I would definately go with e6600 and 8800gtx.
I think the e6700 is a bit overprized, compared to the e6600.

That being said, I would rather go with a third alternative. e6600 and 8800gts.
This way you save some money and you can upgrade your graphics a little sooner instead.

It'll run Oblivion perfectly.

your better off with the e6600, that will come out cheaper in the end. I don't know how much euro that is off the top of my head, but combine that with an evga 680i mobo and your set to go and will kill that e6700 when its comes to gaming if you oc it.

For ram, I would really stay away from ocz as it has a lot of compitbility issues, but since have a performance system, some ram I am seriously considering myself is the crucial ddr2-100, with over a 100 in rebates at newegg right now, its a steal, of course I don't know how much shipping will be for you, and if they will ship it

spend you last bit of money on a cheap case (you can upgrade that later when you have the money, I recommend the antec p180 that I have myself, but at 120 us dollars, it will break your budget) and a high quality power supply. 600w should do it unless if you add a gazillion harddrives and oc your pc until its on fire with extreme phase cooling. As for harddrives, a simple 160 gig drive will be plenty and keep you within your budget.

You can double the hard drive in raid 0 for more speed later on, and you can always add more ram, so this should be a good build for the price right here

E6600 and 8800GTX for sure.

E6700 isn't a whole better than E6600. But the 8800GTX is quite a bit better than a 8800GTS.
