Hey All,

I have an old (but very stable) A7V8X-X system that I use for Photoshop CS. I want to add more memory. I would like to add three 1 gb (modules) of pc2100 266 (matched or at least the same). The manual says this is the max amount of pc2100 266 that can be used. My question: is it stable to max out the memory with this board? I seem to remember reading a thread (many, many years ago that maxing out the memory on a board 'may' cause stability problems. Yes, I searched and did not find the answer(s). The Asus.com site appears to be 'under construction'.

Thank you (in advance for your experience & time)

Michael

Putting max memory in all slots on many mobos results in instability.

Also, many people put in 3Gb, then find the PC sees it as around 2.5Gb., especially on old mobos.

If I was going to spend good money on lots of RAM, I would reconsider my options. Perhaps mew mobo with 2Gb of much faster RAM?

You should future-proof your PC like that, otherwise its only a matter of time until your mobo dies, then you will wish you had taken the upgrade route!

Good Luck! :P
