I've recently purchased a WD 250b sata2 HDD.
For some bizzard reason all my attempts to format the drive have failed.
A diagnose program downloaded from WD's website shows without a doubt a big RED X under "SMART status". Further details show Re-allocated sector count at 104. Is there a way I can fix this without sending the drive back to the shop?

thank you

IMHO, you're a fool to muck with it, even if you can get it reset. Take that puppy back, and get a new one. Unless, of course, you like restoring backups and dealing with lost files?
