Hello,
I wanted to look into advertising on tomshardware.com but my Norton Internet Security says the advertising website Best Media Group is unsafe and has two fake codec's with a password cracker. what's the story?

Were you looking at http://www.bestofmedia.com/ or another site purporting to be Bestofmedia? I notice you mention "Best Media Group", but it is worth noting that Tom's Hardware is operated by "BestOFMedia Group", emphasis on the "of". That could well be the problem.

Hope this helps!

Yup. Looks like a scam/phishing website.

I clicked on the link on Tomshardware for advertising at the bottom of the home page, bestofmedia

coincidentally later yesterday my credit card company called, the fraud dept, that someone tried to use my card for a online purchase but I don't think it is related to going to this site. I think maybe someone at a retail store I used the card at recently probably tried to use it, which is not unusual.

I've seen police haul away customer service employees at both Compusa and Computer City (years ago) while I was working there, for credit card theft.

Strange. Though, please be aware that the Bestofmedia company site doesn't ask you for your credit card at all. To learn more about advertising and rates, you'd need to contact the Sales Dept. directly through the site or via phone.

@OP: You have a virus/spyware on your PC.

A virus/spyware that looks in your wallet and jots down your MC number, exp. date and three digit code. In fact, it's such an advanced program as malware goes, it obtains your mother's maiden name while you are asleep.

  I don't have a facebook account, but I read somewere the company has recently added new and improved security features to their format including this consumer WARNING! to their subscriibers CHECK FOR INCOMING ELECTRICITY — One factor common to computer viruses is that in order to function they require electricity. Look under your desk. Do you see a wire going from the computer to the wall? If so, chances are that this wire is bringing electricity directly into your house from a massive power grid that is also connected to prisons, crack houses, porno filth stores, etc. Yank it out of the wall! Then curl into a fetal position under the desk, because there are computer viruses being created as we speak that can travel through the air and bypass your computer entirely and enter your brain via your dental fillings. Well netravnorm I hope everything turns out ok for you and you keep coming back here.

The site is pretty good now as JP has cleaned up a lot of stuff in the forums, and the reviewers are excellent.

Check out the graphics card review ... it gets updated monthly.

Alternatively, ask Badge any question you want answered cryptically ... he is our resident seer ...

P.S. JP isn't paying me to type this either ... though some more booth babes pics from Computex 2010 would be gratefully appreciated.
