System specs:
Pentium 4 3.0 ghz
intel d865gbf mobo socket 478 (doesnt have PCIe slots)
ATI Radeon 9200
1.5 GB of RAM DDR-400 PC3200
350W PSU

I have different options here:
-Stick with AGP cards and get either a GeForce 7800 GS CO or the new X1950 Pro AGP and a 500 watt PSU
-Make the switch to PCIe by getting a new mobo, but then I need to get a new processor, possibly DDR2 RAM. This on top of the new graphics card and psu.

I really don't want to spend more than $400 after buying new and selling old parts.
Stick with AGP or go PCIe?

as far as i know, both those cards are great for a regular gaming...by that i mean someone who is satisfied with his games settings being high but not super dooper extreme highness like some ppl like it to be.

the main benefit of going pci-e is that you can get the same level of performance on pci-e at a cheaper price than compared with agp. also it gives you the option to upgrade easily next time around.

But if you play ur games at lower resolutions and dont plan on making another upgrade for a year or so, then agp will do you fine for the time being.....while the pci-e DX10 cards prices start to fall.

if you want high res gaming, then your better off going pci-e.
