hi probably a newbe question, but, if a mobo is able to run a core2duo, should it be able to run core2 quad, or theres a compatability problem?

Pretty much all current Core 2 mobos will run the Kentsfield quad-core.

Not that I don't trust you, prozac, but do you perhaps have a link to a page with that information? I built an E6600 system for my brother just after Core 2 came out, and he wants 'definitive proof' (i.e. not just my word) that he can use Kentsfield as a drop-in (or at most a BIOS update) on his board.
