P5W dh deluxe dvd rom issue

Have an annoying issue here and was wondering if anyone could help me out. For some reason when I put a game in my drive it acts like it is going to read it and then it just lags up my computer and does nothing. It will let me explore the Dvd rom and everything until I put a disc in it. Some times win xp won't even detect the drive. I have tried different drives and all do the same thing.
However, the bios detects the drives with no problem and even installs windows with no problems. They just have issues in windows.

Please help.

If it will install windows the mobo must be working.......sounds like a windows problem to me.....re-check ur drivers.
