Hi - I'm looking for a CPU water block that I can immediately plant onto a s478 system, with the option of later installation on a LGA775 platform.

Any suggestions?

It would depend on what type of cooling loop you have (or are planning). Will (or do) you have a pump with a high flow characteristic like the MCP655? Or, will you be using something along the lines of a pump/reservoir system from a premade kit? Do you know what ID tybing you will be using as well?

Swiftech Storm (revision2) cpu water block would be a good one. Works on Intel and AMD popular sockets. Very good cooling performance. I suggest you use 1/2" ID tubing for it. If not the 3/8" ID will work with it as you can replace the fittings included with the block. 1/4" ID tubing will not cut it so don't. Also you need a well capable pump to achieve the optimum flow rate and cooling. I'm using MCP655 for it however you can use a much powerful pump depending on your cooling components and how many water blocks in the loop.
