Hi everyone,

I am going to build a E6600 system by using the GB DS3 board with 2x1GB Ram
and I am planning to OC it to around 3.0-3.2GHz
What will be the best memory to fit into the system? (Or any other suggestion?)
Will I getting any heat issue?
All of them is in a range of $200~$270ish(w/ or w/o rebate)
Thanks for your opinion!! :D :D :D

Well, what are you looking for? Price to performance, the cheapest, or the max amount of power? Also, are you using stock cooling for the 3.2ghz mark? I wouldn't recommend it, but it is your choice, as Conroe's just don't get hot. 3.0-3.2 ghz is cake for a 6600 with a 10x multiplier you know...just be careful and realize that your Gigabyte board is very whiny about certain Micron chips which are very popular 2gb sets..

All I wanted is the system to become as stable as possible with the ram and doesn't generate too much heat from the ram chip itself. But I don't know how much performance different it will be from those memory listed above. And of cus I would like to spend the least of the money and get the performance that I want (which is 3.0-3.2GHz STABLE). But I am not sure if I will push beyond that later or not.

That's why I started this pull to get some ideas and opinions from all of you. Since I am an absolutely newbie to the OC world. Never done it before. So I wanna make sure I did enough homework and didn't do things stupid enough to blow off my whole new system.

And I am using an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Fan for the chip. Hope that's not a bad choice.

Thanks!!

Realize that the RAM will not generate that much heat either way and that you will probably want to keep a bit of airflow over the chips regardless. Also, the ADATA 677 2gb kit would be a good choice.

Yea, I read some good review on the A-DATA Vitesta PC2 6400 memory too.
Too bad it won't let me add in to the pull :( :( :(

OCZ. Everything else is just overkill or too gimmicky.
Are you kidding me? EVERYTHING on that list is overkill for E6600 @3.2Ghz!

So...What speed would you guys recommend me to OC it into?
And with which memory??
Thanks again!! :D

Are you talking about CPU?
~3.8Ghz would be a nice goal for 24/7 for a E6600 (in such case even the cheapest, PK, would do).
Even though ak47is1337's recommendation is more than suitable for 3.2Ghz

Hi everyone,

I am going to build a E6600 system by using the GB DS3 board with 2x1GB Ram
I'm building my rig right now with those same components and I have the Corsair XMS2 PC2 6400 for mine. I'd like to give you more info but It's not ready to fire up yet though from my own research it will serve you very well and OC'ing beyond 3.2Ghz should not be troublesome at all.

I agree with Dario on this one.
Any 667 will do for 3.2 GHz.
But I voted for the supertalent.
Imagine that
Pays to prepare

How about if I wanna OC it into 3.8GHz now??
Should go for ak47is1337's advise (ADATA) or the PK??
How about the OCZ Rev2??
Thanks again everyone~~~

Don't forget that your motherboard has a gripe with Micron D9 revision chips!

Bios F7, I guarantee Micron will works.

@franktam918, for 3.2Ghz = 8x400 (mem divider 3:4) 1066mhz 4.4.4.12 should be fine with SuperTalent. You won't regret buying it cause it has Micron D9GKX chips.

At 3.8Ghz, you must replace your Freezer with Tuniq Tower 120 or Scythe Infinity if you don't want your E6600 overheat.

Thanks a lot for ur opinion!!
But will the Tuniq Tower 120 and Scythe Infinity too big/tall and heavy for my Cooler Master Mystique 632 case? Do I have to do any mobbing to the case or the mobo?
BTW I have a 632 case that doesn't have the side window panel.

That case should be plenty big.
