Can anyone recommend a good book on the subject. Not too technical but with
useful hints and tips on setting up, adjustment, problem solving, trouble
shooting etc.

I find your anwer offensive. His answer was comprehensive enough to
deal with the question you asked, you don't need a book. If you need a
book, go to a bookstore. Don't offend knowledgable people in this
group who have been helping virtually everybody facing problems with
webcam setup.

Did I say I had a problem setting up? I asked a perfectly reasonable
question, assuming that some posters on this newsgroup would be able to make
a more informed recommendation than your average bookstore.
In what way was my answer offensive?

Web Cams for Dummies
search for it or just get your bookstore to order it.
remember, webcams generally are outdated as quick as new model cars.
any book you might buy probably wont have the latest/greatest info

I do agree that "most" of those books are a

kind of reminds me
when I was at about 16, busted my car transmission and dad drove home from a
hard days work only to open the garage door and see me neatly sitting next
to my MG engine standing neatly in a wooden box and transmission parts
laying all over the place.
How are you going to get it all back together - this is gonna cost me a
fortune ... 'Don't worry dad, I got this book.

Thanks to those of you who posted helpful suggestions.
I apologise for my outburst but when I'm insulted about my intelligence by
someone who can't even use punctuation correctly I tend to lose my cool.

Well Mr. "DontHaveToSpellOrPuncuateCauseThisIsCasualUseNet" - you can
surely go on typing like a nine year old.
But what makes you think we have to read your whiney rants?

Maybe it's cos usenet's full enough of idiots, spammers, and trolls,
that it'd be nice just once to find somewhere that's not got the wankers in.
Maybe, just maybe, some of us have more worthwhile things to do in life
than try and pick fights.
