Ok so I just put my new PC together and have tried everything in my power to overclock my chip. I read an article on toms hardware about the e6400 and e6700 chip set being clocked to a 3.4 g. the highest I can turn mine up is 2.8 whats wrong???? I have liquid cooling and an asus mother board. I am trying the program that comes with the board but the multipier is grayed out. Please if anyone has some step by step stuff for me to try when I get home it would be much appreciated. thanks

The multi is grayed out because its locked, only the X6800 comes with an unlocked multipier. what kind of asus board? some oc higher then others. and you said your using a program to oc? like in windows? hmmm, its much better to tweak everthing in the BIO's. also, whats the speed on your ram? in fact, just give us the complete system specs.

edit: heres wusy's guide to oc-ing a c2d

Built-in Liquid Cooling System... I know at 2.8 g my chip is 29 degrees I dont know if you need more info but thats pretty much it

You just said exactly why you can't OC, you have a P5N32-SLI based on the shoddy NForce 590 chipset... you're fairly stuck, can't help you...

Get a 680i mobo, then we can talk.
