Mobo upgrade and keeping current install ?

I just upgraded from an AMD 64 3000+ with a MSI mobo to a c2d E6400 with the asus p5pe-vm and I was running raid on the older mobo and not on this new mobo.I did a full backup of 2 partitions using Acronis and tried to reimage one of my sata HDs and windows wont boot.

Am I asking for too much here not to have to reformat and install from sctrath or think I can keep trying with the image.

Any ideas ?

Come to think of it, what i should have done before I did my image was remove the chipset drivers, raid drivers, etc... then make my image so it would just redetect everything new. Since I didnt its looking for too much that isnt there anymore and wont fully boot into Windows at all.


Booohoooo I hate full reinstalls.

You can swap out motherboards with out reinstallling Windows XP. I've done it twice and it worked both times. You just have to force XP to do a new hardware discovery.

When they say insert Windows XP disc, is that the original or the SP2 disc?
