I was thinking about upgrading from my AMD 3500+ Socket 939 Proc

To a Core 2 Duo E6600...

The upgrade will probably cost anywhere from 400-700 dollars depending on how much used parts I can sell on eBay...

Do you think the upgrade would be worth it and if so how much better my computer would run?

It depends on what you use the PC for.

If you run like Photoshop and DVD encoding, then it's a worthy upgrade.

If you don't really need an upgrade, just stick to what you have, it still can do pretty much everything you want it to.

I do both of those things often, but I do still lag often and games and I am almost 100% positive the bottleneck is my CPU because I have an

ATI X1900XTX 2GB

4x512MB Corsair XMS 2-2-2-5 2.75v ram

and this CPU so...

It's not really the CPU. It won't even bottleneck a G80.

You will see a noticeable improvement in tasks like Photoshop, and work like that. In gaming you probably won't notice an improvement.

I'm not sure what you mean by G80 and no gaming improvement

Hey Real,
I was thinking the same with almost same configuration. I have Athlon 64 3000+ running with Asus K8N-E mobo with 1 gig RAM, but I am happy with this for my day to day use plus occasional blasting away both friends & foes in some of my fav games.

I would say, wait a little longer until the price drops down.
