It came to my mind that almost all of tomshardware.com news sources are... tomshardware... how's that possible?
I visit other websites and without mentioning names, if I was asked to evaluate sourcing the news on tomshardware, I will not hesitate to give the lowest rating.
How is that possible, do all the news generate from within tomshardware?
Sometimes people need to know the original source to authenticate or get further information.

This is a serious matter for me, tomshardware is obviously getting the news from somewhere.
Writing the source will increase the site's credibility and authenticity.

Thank you for such a great website.

After looking at the 20 or so most recent news articles I've yet to find one that states Tom's Hardware as the source. Every article had a link to the original source. I have seen articles which state TH as the source, but not many.

Tom's Hardware does employ reporters and an editorial team who write and originate stories. Many times, a new product announcement will go out, or a press release will drop and our reporters will write up a piece about it - which is generally how news organizations do it.

When stories drop in other media, a reporter may reference those in a new story here on Tom's and link to the original instance, such as the Wall Street Journal or New York Times. It depends on the individual report where the source will appear, but it is usually a link referenced in the text of the story.

The links are almost indistinguishable from the rest of the article. The font colour choice for URLs could have been better.

Thank you for the clarification, I was talking about the "source" at the top of each article which always refers to toms.

Oh I see what you mean now. Sometimes that will be placed at the end of the article as part of the article text. The thing you're referring to simply states what mirror the article was originally published on. News is rarely posted on anything but the US site though (and automagically copied to the UK) so it's meaningless for all intents and purposes. The author could select a different mirror when writing up the article in the CMS, but nobody does.
