I just figured out why I get 28.8K with my 56K v.90 modem. I used my ISP for like 6 years and was always connecting to 33.6K modem, right now I connect to 56K modem and 36.000bps.(i get 160 ping which pretty good)
I play Tribes2 all the time but don't know which settings are better? I can choose from 28.8K modem and 56K modem. I have 36.000bps and it's neither 28.8K nor 56K. I tried to set between them, but ........I don't know......I need help.......
thank, You.
by the way is Sattelite any god for gaming? I heard it recieves only 0.25 of a second.

I would say that a higher speed is better, if that's what you're asking. As for satellite, I'm not sure.

From what I hear the ping times on satellites are bad, and there's nothing anyone can do about it other than launching lower-earth orbiting satellites. With the current satellites your're talking about a delay of somewhere around ~1/3 of a second for one way or ~2/3 of a second for two-way. So for downloading big files, satellite is great. For browsing it is better. But for games I don't think you'll like it (they even have disclaimers which say about the same.) Of course, if you get satellite you can still dial-up when you need better pings and less bandwidth, as the dial up modem will take priority.
