Hello, I have a bit of a problem with my sound card. When playing FEAR with hardware sound and eax my computer restarts within 10 minutes of playing. At first I thought I had a power supply problem but other games like Oblivion work just fine. I tried to play with hardware sound disabled and my my computer didn't restart. My system specs are
AMD S939 3500+ Venice Processor, Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9-RH motherboard, ASUS ATI Radeon X1950Pro, Fortron Blue Storm II 400W Power Supply, 1GB Geil DDRAM with latest drivers for everything.

Sorry Pal, i had some similar problem in the past.

The only way i can think of is a upgrade to a better card.

A Audigy 2 or X-fi may do the trick.

I had the same prob and I just uninstalled and reinstalled it and it eliminated my problem but now I get random popping noises every once in awhile. I changed speakers thinking the speakers were bad but the new ones are doing it now. I think its time to get a new card.
