Hi:

I'm undertaking the task of building my first gaming computer to replace my Dell 4600. I have zero experience building computers, so I've been trying to learn as much as I can on component selection and compatibility from these forums and other articles. I've set a budget of $1500, and here is what I've come up with:

Antec Nine Hundred mid-tower
Thermaltake Purepower 600w power supply
Intel BLKDQ965GFEKR Socket T (LGA 775) mobo http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813121057
eVGA GeForce 8800 GTS video card
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory Model VS2GBKIT667D2
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200KS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

I figured I would go big on the video card.
I don't know how to overclock, so I didn't think 800mhz memory was necessary. I figure once I get more experience with working on pcs, I can look into overclocking and upgrade things as needed.
My biggest question is will the 8800 GTS work on the mobo I've picked.
Any othe compatibility issues you see? Any bonehead moves in the components I've picked?
Thanks!

So aside from swapping out the mobo to a DS3, anyone else see anything that could be improved upon?
Thanks.

Decent mobo, good CPU, great GPU.......but don't expect much of an overclock with that RAM.

If you're seriously about OC'ing though, drop the CPU down to a 6300/6400 and get some quality RAM, then OC the crap out of it with the stock cooler. Otherwise stick with cheap RAM and a 6600......
