How much do they cost? are they all about the same price?

I would go for the 7600GT always better than ATI mid range solution heck they had to make the 1650XT because the X1600's couldnt compete even close to the 7600GT and now the X1650XT just matches 7600GT but does not beat it.

the 1650xt is about 10 bucks more expensive than the 7600gt..
so the price doesn't matter much..

all i want to know is, if the 7600gt is better in performance compared with the 1650xt...

Given the performance numbers of the X1650XT and the 7600GT I would have to say if you have an SLI board then opt for the 7600GT. But on the flipside if you have a crossfire board, go for the X1650XT. But either way you look at it your not going to fail. All depending upon where you go for reviews in A vs B you will find mixed reviews. Sites like Firing Squad and Legion Hardware say that the X1650XT demolishes the 7600GT. But on the other hand sites like Hard OCP and Tech Report will say otherwise. So all in all either choice you pick your not going to be unhappy. I have an EVGA 7600GT CO and am quite happy with it. But when it comes down to it, the choice will be up to you. The 7600GT can be had for quite cheap. So all in all it comes down to personal preference. The availability on the X1650XTs last time I heard was pretty low. So my suggestion for you is go with the 7600GT. But don't quote me on it, do the research yourself and make a decision.

i have the oportunity to buy either the 7600gt or the 1650xt at a resonable price, because my brother works in a computer shop, and he has some discounts as an employee there.

I don't have SLI or CrossFire, just the average PCiE16x. I will do some researching before i can make up my mind, but any suggestion will be of help.

thanks..

Well if its only 10$ then the X1650XT is good 24 shader pipelines is what sets it apart from the X1600's and the 7600GT has the normal Fixed 12 pipelines.
the 7600GT is a good workhorse for higher resolutions but the X1650XT is better at image quality (ATI can do x6 while Nvidia x4 only) probably more suited to shader intense games aka Oblivion.

I won't be able to play at higher resolutions, because my monitor is only capable of 1280x1024 ... so this is the max res that i will use...

7600GT vs x1650xt review

http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=35476

Generally, the 7600GT is still the better choice. In some benchmarks, the overclocked x1650xt beats the Nvidia card by a fair amount, but lets not forget that the 7600GT is a great overclocker as well (even on stock cooling). Having owned a 7600GT I can tell you that if you don't mind the stock noise fan (which can get pretty loud in 3dmode), the card is a good performer and great overclocker. I had mine running at 620/1600, albeit with a zalman vf700 AlCu cooler.

Cheers

easy, i would go for the 7600GT (or for the same money you clould look for a 7900GS - that a good choice) because nvidia is no nonsense and has all the features you need, and in my experience they outlast ati interms of game playing life.

They are both good cards, so make your choice on the games you play. Unless of course you are running Windows Vista, then you want the
ATI as it, in general, has better vista drivers than nvidia.
