For a while now i have noticed how that Mobos are claiming to support upto 8GBs of ram yet only offer 4 ram slots. whilst 2Gb stick have been availible at premium rates as server memory for a while now when will this be availible to the more mainstream market,i doubt it will be in time for vista but how soon after its release?
And we would know this how? Unless an employee of one of the memory makers comes on here, which a seriously doubt. Just send an e-mail to one of the memory manufactures to get an answer.
thanks for the completely useless answer but i suppose it got you an extra post so it was worth it. i have e-mailed corsair and OCZ and have not received an email back from them yet. so in the future if you cant answer a question helpfully please do not post. oh and im sure some people on this forum are privvy to this sort of information as they keep their ear to the ground more than i do.
I have no idea, but I imagine it will be when 64-bit OSes become more popular. XP and Vista 32-bit both max out at 3GB, so putting 8GB in your system would make no sense.
Just a fun fact:
64-bit allows addressing of over 2 million terabytes of memory.
