All,

I have just bought a E6400 with GA P965 DS3. When I boot the PC the BISO is showing wrong clock speed as

Core 2 CPU 6400 @1.60 GHZ( 266*6)

And the Information in CPU Z is as follows
Specification : 6400 @ 2.13 GHz
Core Speed: 1600 MHz
Multipler: x6
Bus Speed : 266.7MHz
Rated FSB: 1066 FSB

Is there something wrong or is it just the way it works. Please help me .
I appreciate your patience

Also I bought 2 GB(2*1GB) PQI memory from Frys for $150.( 5-5-5-12)
IS it worht paying $100 more for corsair or Patriot ? I dont mind waiting for another 2- 3 sec more to load the application . Please help

Regards,
PSR

I wouldn't worry too much about what the BIOS reports as long as the CPU is operating at the correct speed in Windows. For example, the MSI 975X Platinum BIOS reports that my E6600 is running anywhere between 600MHz - 800MHZ. It's either incorrect or that is the actual speed the CPU is running at while in BIOS mode. However, Windows reports that my E6600 is running at the correct speed; 3.0GHz (333MHz x 9 multiplier).

If your RAM is running fine, then I wouldn't bother buying more expensive RAM. The only exception is if you are trying to overclock and the RAM is not running at the rated speed. For the record, I use Corsair because of brand loyalty. Their RAM maybe more expensive, but I've never had any problems with them.

Do you have the newest BIOS?

Some motherboards aren't shipped with the newest, latest, greatest BIOS. Check your BIOS version, and go online and check if it's the latest. If not, upgrade the BIOS, and check and see if it corrected the CPU ID.
