Internet Connection Issue... PLEASE ADVISE

I have been using broadband with an ethernet connection through a router for months happily.
Recently I configured a proxy from URL (firefox) in attempt to access university data on campus. culprit? Eitherway after resetting, LAC connects as expected, however all browsers fail to access internet. Instead try to connect to a dial up connection rather than using connected ethernet.

Also worth mention IE achieves internet connection through using wireless connection to router, however firefox does not.

Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Does it make any difference if you reconfigure your wired ethernet to use DHCP instead of the static address it is currently set to (even though that setting seems OK) ?

And when does the wireless lease expire?

Using DHCP appears to make no difference. Even before difficulties i was required to manually assign IP to access internet, never understood that either lol

Untill u mentioned it ive never heard of wireless leases before. im assuming leases are only created when using DHCP. So i tried to manually configure but got a very similar respone to my problem with my ethernet. My wireless has never worked properly - as in it connects but then disconnects after a short period of use. Hence originally setting up and requiring wired connection to my router. Dont know anything about wiresless leasing but seems to me this could very well by my problem with my wireless seeing as it expired in 1905!? interesting. Clock in router and machine are accruate.
Any ideas?
