Recent press releases from Cingular say that EDGE is available to 260
million people, suggesting it has been fully rolled out. The coverage
maps show the Carolinas market as not yet covered, and I'm not seeing
data rates that would indicate EDGE.
Does anybody know what the status of EDGE is in the Carolinas/DCS
market?

I'm curious, where you find a the link to that map? At one time they did
have that on the "Media Net" page, but several months ago they changed
it so all it shows is general coverage without GPRS/Edge distinction.
It is nice to see an updated map. The last version I had was from back
in May. I guess I could always play around with the numbers in the file
title to find the next version, but thats too time consuming.
Typical squintavision impossible to use 1" = 500 miles map.

Interesting... where did you find that map? Looking at all the map
options through the media works and data connect pages only gets me a
static image (vice PDF) that doesn't show EDGE here yet.
I dug up a few more WAP speed testing sites, and based on those
numbers perhaps EDGE is live here. I'll have to keep playing with it.
