I am likely to upgrade my system to employ a second MSI NX7800GT video card via my Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard's SLI capability. My issue is I don't know which driver to use, should I make this upgrade.
MSI's Website has a driver from 2005, which it says is for SLI functionality (another driver is available from February of this year, but does not specify SLI use). NVIDA has so-called "Forceware" drivers on its site that are much more recent, but that are not MSI-specific, of course.
Can someone help me through this confusion? The drivers I currently have installed are from MSI. They work fine, but were not identified in the download as related to SLI functionality.
OEM specific drivers are pretty much a thing of the past for MOST video cards. The only exceptions are AIW (all in wonder) cards which have TV tuners and weird video chips.
What you'll find is that most OEM drivers on a CD are just the plain 'ole forceware drivers with the OEM name plastered on them.
So to answer your question, use nVidia's Forceware drivers. If they are unstable nVidia has available for download the previous versions for maximum compatibility.
