Hello. I am going to be purchasing a new system and I have decided to buy an aftermarket heatsink/fan. The Zalman 95XX. However, I am unsure which of the two I should use. I've read that there isn't much difference in the way of heat dissapation between the two. Also, is the install of the 9500 the same as the 9700? I just want to make sure it will fit with the motherboard I am buying without any problems. The processor I am getting is the E6600 which I plan on overclocking heavily since I will be getting this heatsink/fan. Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Go to Zalman's website and look up the 9500 and 9700. They list the clearances necessary for the coolers. If you can fit the 9700, it will be better. The 9700 also has a better mounting system for Intel cpu's than the 9500 does, though the 9500 mounts are ok. Just more work.

I believe based on the case I am getting that I will have plenty of room. It is the Cooler Master CM Stacker 830. A monsterous case. Perhaps I will do the 9700 then. I just didn't know if the wait of the heatsink itself would cause any problems or not so I was thinking more along the lines of being conservative in terms of that. But, if it is an easier install, it definitely wins me over. Thanks for the hep.

i haven't checked but about 99.9999999% of mobos will fit with the 9500
the 9500 is raised quite a fair bit off the motherboard with heatpipes so clearance issues are quite rare.

9500 should be fine for your use even with overclocking

the gains from the 9700 dont justify the extra cost, plus, the 9500 is lighter which means less stress on your motherboard
