Just bought a DFI Infinity NF Ultra-II-M2 board for an AM2 system.

Everything seems to work fine other than the USB ports are totally dead.

My PSU only has a 20 pin plug instead of a 24 pin, would this make any difference?

Anybody have this problem before? Is there a fix or is this an RMA?

thanks

It is likely you have a bad board, I recommend you use a 20 to 24 pin power adapter as it supplies more power to the chipset and pcix ports, I can also think it might be underpowered to the point of some components on the board dont work, BTW what is the wattage and brand of PS?

RMA. The problem is not the connector, I use a 350W 20pin PSU with a 24pin mobo without any problems and if you hadn't enough power you'd see many other problems, but not USB.

When I loaded the board's drivers, the device manager showed no driver loaded for either the audio or the usb controller. It said to download SP1.

Put SP1 on and then device manager recognized the drivers, but still no love in the ports

Unless someone else has an idea, I guess I'll do the RMA which really sucks since this was supposed to be a christmas present for my son.

thanks guys

the PSU is a 450w generic, only about 5 months old. I'm not having any other issues, so I doubt it's the PSU.

unfortunate, rma seems the way to go, unless you bought it within 30 days you can return it to the place of purchase, sometimes it takes 3-4 weeks to get a replacement via rma
