Tried to install my Creative X-Fi card in the bottom PCI slot and the computer would not boot even into BIOS. Moved the X-Fi to the next PCI slot and everything loaded as it should, any ideas?

Yeh, it's probably sharing the slot IRQ with an onboard busmastering device.

Patient says "Doc, it hurts when I do this"
Doctor says "Then don't do that"!

Fairly simple philosophy.

Normally I just use another slot.

When I tried to install the drivers for the motherboard that came on the CD everything installed except the audio drivers. I moved the PCI card to the other slot for now, but wanted to run dual video cards.

I will try to disable audio in the bios.

Got it. I think that when I installed the card I did not push it in far enough, my fault.

Problem again.

Computer boots up and everything is fine. Then the sound will vanish and the computer will freeze.

Bad PCI slot?
