Webcam recommendation

Hi all,

I am in the process of setting up a remote webcam solution and was wondering
if anyone has any recommendations to which webcam I should buy. The only
real criteria is that it can be mounted outdoors, so it has to be
waterproof.

Also if anyone knows of any good software solutions for such a setup??
