After much deliberation and some good advice off here I have ordered the following system to build myself.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 cpu with Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro heatsink & fan
2Gb matched Corsair Dominator PC6400, 800MHz memory
Asus P5N32-E SLI 680i motherboard
Gainward BLISS 640Mb GeForce 8800GTS graphics card
150Gb Western Digital Raptor 10,000rmp hard drive - Gaming Edition
OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU
Antec 900 Ultimate Gamer Case
Sony DW-G120ABC 16x Dual Layer DVD-RW drive
Sony 16x DVD-ROM drive
Windows XP Media Center Edition with free upgrade to Vista when it comes out

and obviously I'll add my Audigy 2 sound card and 200Gb SATA drive to it.

I think it will suffice for me. All I want to do is play Medieval 2 Total War and Armed Assault when it comes out... :lol:

looks great to me and the free upgrade sounds nice too... enjoy Medieval TW2 my friend is playing it right now... its destroying his R9600pro and 512ram.. but he loves the game so much

512Mb RAM??? How does he even run it!? My 2Gb RAM and 6600GT is struggling a bit on any kind of decent graphics settings! 8O

Hurrah! Just been notified that all my parts have been dispatched! 8)

Looks like this weekend will be spent swearing and head scratching over building the thing! :lol:

Any tips regarding how my components go together? Things to look out for? Problems I may encounter?

The last system I built was a P4 based rig, so this new technology is an adventure for me!

I certainly did, but it seems to be out of stock everywhere in the UK and my normal supplier said they wouldn't be getting any more until January! Couldn't wait that long...

The P5N32-E was the last 680i based board in stock, so I had it! The price difference between this and the striker was about £20 so I wouldn't guess the performance or facilities would make a great deal of difference to me as I'm not an overclocking nut (I may do a little).
