What is a good dvd burner to buy?

My dell supplied dvd burner is crapping out on me after 2 years of solid service. Im looking to buy a standard dvd burner. The great NEC 3550a is no longer in stock at newegg, and is quite pricy at more questionable places. If you could link me to a reputable site with the NEC 3550a for cheap (sup 50)
I would be very grateful.
I have a friend who recently bought the Samsung 18x burner. However, the reviews at newegg average 4 stars which points to a serious deficiency in the product. I have another firend with the Pioneer 16x 5xdvdram and he has no issues.

Are either of these good burners? Im going to be upgrading from an 8xDVD+rw so I dont need 18x, 16x will suffice. I just want a reliable burner that will last and burn reliable discs.

i suggest you buy a nec drive.
i use it for more than 4 years and it is working like the first day.

Nec 3550a is 35 bucks and out of stock at the current time wait a bit it might come back in stock. As for other dvd burners they got great reviews. I curently have Plextor PX-716A, Nec 3550A and are simply reliable.
