help...my camera as described above turns on but theres no picture in the viewfinder!!!
i can still move the lens in and out and use the menus..which is the only thing displayed in the view finder!
ive tried resetting to defaults etc but it makes no difference! still no picture in the view finder at all, its not the batteries etc.
it seemed to happen when i last tried to upload my pics to the p.c. it loaded em up onto p.c fine, but when i took the usb connection out of the camera there was no picture when the power was on!!
i think it takes pictures but obviously i cat say for sure as there is no display and i did reset the camera defaults as mentioned in my first post any other ideas?
Just make sure if it takes pictures. take a few and copy them to your PC. If you don't know for sure I can't help you...
ive pointed the camera out of my window and taken two snaps.
just now i took your advice and uploaded them to the p.c, brought the file up on screen and viewed the pictures.....which were just black, no sign of any image at all
Ok. That's bad news; I guess your CCD has died then. Another possibility would be, that at some point a connection to your CCD has broken. I guess the only thing you can do now (Unless you still have warranty), is to open the camera up and have a look inside. If you're lucky you'll find an unattached cable or something.... good luck!
Oh; I forgot to mention that IF you actually open it up, then do it in an as much as possible dust free area... and DON'T touch the sensor. Fat stains and dirt on that sucker are not nice... (I tried to remove dust on my EOS20D's sensor with canned air. Unforunately no one told me that these sprays are usually driven with a butane/propane-mixture and if you spray upside down the gas will condense on your sensor and WILL leave a blurry/fatty condensate behind...Had to send it in for professional cleaning)
