I am putting together a new system and would appreciate some comments on the component selection. Not sure which way to go. The system is for home use, mainly video editing and very little gaming. Here are my options so far.

MB..............Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6
CPU............Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 or E6600 ???
Memory.......2G DDR2 800 - probably Samsung
Graphics......Gigabyte 7600GT GV-NX76T256D-RH or maybe 7600GS ???
HDD............320GB SATA 16Mb 7200 - either WD Caviar SE16 or Seagate Barracuda???
DVD Burner...Pioneer 111D
Monitor..........19" BenQ FP92W 5ms
Case Mid Tower.......Either Coolermaster or Thermaltake. Not sure which model ???
Keyboard/Mouse......MS Desktop 6000 wireless

Any suggestions on the right system would be appreciated.

This looks like it will do what you need. I just bought that BENQ monitor for my wife and it is really nice - so nice I bought her a new 20" widescreen benq and took the 19" for my gaming box.

I would make sure that whatever case you choose - you have at least one 120mm fan as intake and another for output. Good airflow is key. If you do not plan to overclock - then the stock heatsink and fan will do fine - otherwise a solid - middle of the road option is the Arctic Cooling 7.

I would lean towards high quality RAM - but that is your decision. Video editing needs a lot of memory - so quantity may be more important than quality.

I also tend to avoid wireless keyboards and mice - just because I hate to have the bateries die in the middle of my work - but that is also your decision.

Good Luck.

MB..............Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 or Foxconn 975X7AB series.
CPU............Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Memory.......2G DDR2 800 C4 or C5 - SuperTalent (Supertalent ddr2 800 C4 for the best high performance ddr2 800 ram out there, and Supertalent ddr2 800 C5 for value ram worth for the money)\
Graphics......Gigabyte 7600GT GV-NX76T256D-RH or evga 7600GT KO
HDD............320GB SATA2 16Mb 7200 - WD Caviar SE16 (best for data) or Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (best for performance)

save your money and go for the real kick ass product for your main computer usage purpose.

-6600 will be faster if you're not overclocking. It will help with your video editing, but it's also a fair bit more $$, so depends on your budget
-RAM: if you're not overclocking, get whatever you can find the best price on, but I'd definitely get 2 gigs. You can get DDR2-667 RAM, you won't need 800 unless you're overclocking
-get whatever case you like better. Just make sure both have some decent airflow (ie-120mm intake, 120mm exhaust fans)
-hard drive: both are good, personal preference really
-vid card: both are fine if you're not doing much gaming at all. A 7600GT will be able to handle games much better though, and it's quite affordable, so it's a really good choice and bang-for-the-buck

Honestly, if you're gonna overclock then get the good components, better RAM, better mobo, etc. If you're not, then don't bother spending so much more money on the end high stuff because it'll be a waste. You're better off putting the money you save into a better monitor or another hard drive or more RAM.
