I'm running a skt 478 Intel w/2.8ghz, AGP. Right now my current video card is a GeForce 5700le. I was wondering if it would be better to upgrade to a second hand 6800xt (ebay, etc.) or put out for a new 7600gs.

More about : 6800xt hand 7600gs

Depends on when you plan to upgrade your motherboard/proc. If it is soon, you may want to go for the cheaper one, as you'll probably have to upgrade the video card as well. Otherwise go for the faster 7600. It is leaps and bounds ahead of the 6800, as I recall.

The 7600gs is pretty good, it can run battlefield2 on high settings.

wow I'm looking at exactly the same vid cards. I think I'm going to lean towards the 7600.

Quick question, I'm not a die-hard gamer and my PC is a HP I purchased from bestbuy about 2-3 years ago. Will I have any problem power-wise w/ the 7600? I recently had a ATI 9600PRO card that I sold recently.

thanks

I think the 7600 will have approx the same power draw as the 9600 did, 7600 power consumption is only approx 65 watts max.

If there is one thing I've learnt from the threads, it would be that the XT in the nvidia cards stands for extremely terrible. As all the others said, go for the 7600.

buy.com has some sweet deals on their video cards if you use Google Checkout. Right now, Google has a promo where they will take off $20 for purchases made over $50 bucks. Plus free shipping!

This is the 7600GS that I'm looking at. Please let me know if you think this is a good deal.
