More about windows sound amplifier software
  1. If you are using media player classic, you can: view>option>audio switcher

Check enable build-in audio switcher filer, restart the program and go view>option>audio switcher again and check regain volume and drag the boost to the right and OK. Then play your movie/music. For VLC player, just turn the volume way up to 200%. If it is still not loud enough, then you need to spend some money to get speakers with amplifier or see a gp to refer you to an otolaryngologist, LOL!

I'm replying to this old thread.. But I found a free audio amplifier or an equalizer software which is useful for everyone (Well mostly..):

    -Softwares-

    EqualizerAPO: http://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/

    Requirements:
    - Windows Vista or later (currently only Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 have been tested)
    - Sound card driver must support APOs (this includes most onboard sound drivers)
    - The application must not bypass the system effect infrastructure
(possible by using special APIs like ASIO)

Simple GUI program by Znuff to put inside one of the sub folder:
    32bit version: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/120650/EqAPO/eq-config.exe
    64bit version:https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/120650/EqAPO/eq-config_x64.exe

    How to use by Znuff:

    1. Download EqualizerAPO software first

    2. Edit the default config file ( \Program Files\EqualizerAPO\config\config.txt ) to read something like this:

    Preamp: 0 dB
    Include: eq.txt

    3. Download the Simple GUI program and drop in the config directory (again, \Program Files\EqualizerAPO\config\)

    4. Start the GUI and play around with the settings. You should notice a change in the sound as soon as you move the sliders.

Have fun guys! If you want more information, you can check out his website at:

So thanks to the great Znuff well he rocks and Ohhh yeahh see ya! :D

OMG this worked perfect! f*ck all those other people who say this cannot be done and you have to use the mic boost in your hardware's software (which I obviously don't have)
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

8-26-15 OldTruck added: WOW. I'll say it again, WOW. It didn't work for me until I changed 'Preamp: 0 dB' to 'Preamp: 50 dB', and then it was like magic. Suddenly I had a LOT more volume, so much more that I moved the dB value down to 30. In my Win7, because of the build number, the 'enhancements' tab was missing from 'speakers properties' and I was stymied as to how to get my speaker volume up to something hearable (in my research, I saw a lot of people whose Win7 has the same problem). Netflix was usually fine, but YouTube was almost unusable. All the fixes I had tried to get the enhancements tab to appear had failed, and I was about ready to buy some hardware to fix my problem. THANKS A LOT !!!
