Did you look at the specifications of whatever machine you are planning
on buying? It will include a copy of Outlook- check what version it is.
You could also email the manufacturer and ask them your question.

You aren't going to have any issues with any of the current crop of PPCs
with WM2003SE or even those one back that have WM2003 on them. They all come
with a copy of Outlook 2002 (XP) but work just fine with the 2003 you
already have loaded. The Outlook provided is for those that don't have it
already, or are using a previous version.

Hi!
It's all in the box. Activesync can synchronize your inbox, contacts, tasks,
etc. from Outlook, it doesn`t work with Outlook Express. On your PPC's
CD-ROM must be a standalone version of Outlook (prior version), but if you
already have the latest Outlook 2003, the sync program should also work
flawlessly. May I ask why are you moving away from Palm?

All the software necessary to sync your Pocket PC with Outlook 2003 is
already included on your PDA and in ActiveSync 3.7 and later.

My reason to move from Palm to Pocket PC is in regard to the
synchronization of Outlook 2003. I use, for visual aspect, differents
colors for differents calendar categories. When I sychronize with Palm
OS 5.2.1, the color is not transfer or update.
After creating an activity on Outlook 2003 on my portable with a color
for the calendar category, I have to go to my PDA an manually input
the calendar category color, and ifI change the calendar category on
my PDA I will end up with two differents colors for the same activity.
In the past this option was avalaible on the Palm OS, but they removed
it for something else.
Presently considering eithe an iPAQ rz17110 or a Dell X30. Will call
both to see if the calendar category color is avalaible and working.
The real problem is that you can not test this in a store unless you
bring your own PC an install the software and configure the PDA.
Any advice will be welcome.
Thank you

You are going to find that the category color is not going to transfer on
PPCs either. There are some very good third party PIM extensions that will
provide that functionality though. You might take a look at Pocket Informant
and Agenda Fusion to see what they have to offer. There is also a wonderful
program, Pocket Breeze that extends that sort of functionality right to the
Today screen for quick access.
