icon problem!!!

ok...so i setup my plextor 12/10/32 without any problems on my secondary master ide channel. then, i upgraded the firmware to 1.8 (the newest) and began to install plextor manager (i didnt want the cd burning tools). however, i found that my PM was faulty or something, so i attempted to uninstall. however, my computer froze after i tried to uninstall. so, i manually deleted and removed the reg. keys. now, although my burner works totally fine, i cant ever see the little cd icon that displays next to the drive letter in My Computer, nero, other apps, etc. it's now just a generic windows icon on a sheet of paper. i know it might be tedious, but how do i get my little cd icon back??

Do a search for *.ico that will list all icons on your system. If you haven't lost it it will be listed there. Next right click the generic Icon and select properties. If you're using ME you can change the Icon by browsing to the location found in your search. Good luck!
