any idea what can cause this in win XP?

using a 7600GS with 93.xx forceware driver

2D modes are fine and fast, latest intel inf chipet driver is installed

strange thing is that the reported memory in NVIDA tab is 256M but in DX DIAG is 'N/A'

The same thing is happening on my computer. Only thing that doesnt work is Flight Simulator X and some other programs that require it. I looked all over for a fix but have not yet found one. Any help would be cool also.

Sounds like a direct x driver problem, usually downloading and installing the LATEST DX9.0c should more likely than not fix the errors, also if you using AGP, you will need the appropriate chipset drivers, PCIe is seen as a pci port

I had that problem once. A new video card cured it. As someone else mentioned, make sure you have DirectX 9.0c installed. Last, on one of my computers that has a NVidia card, it wouldn't take the latest driver, but had to have an earlier driver to work right. Don't know exactly why, only except that was the way it was.

3D Didnt work.... obviously

Latest DirectX from MS

Latest Forceware (tried bundled first which failed)

A fresh XP install solves the problem

It's a clients' DELL PC, and he reported it did the same with an older ATi card

Now he dual boots, one for Games and one for work - not the best solution but acceptable
